Rush Wellness Center
The Rush Wellness Center at Sanctuary Place provides a wide range of services for residents with a focus on healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices. The Wellness Center is under the supervision of Rush faculty, including Dr. Marilyn Wideman and nurse Janis Robinson, as well as Rush students from multiple disciplines including medical and nursing students. Wellness Center services include: healthy cooking demonstration, health coaching, peer counseling, health screenings, nutrition counseling, respiratory health counseling, stress management workshops, self-esteem workshops and exercise groups.

The Wellness Center operates on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 and the last half hour each week focuses on exercise. Weekly participation continues to grow attendance averaging 20-25 women each week. In April, , Dr. Larry Goodman, CEO of Rush University Medical Center, came to the Wellness Center to meet clients and see the work being done. Additionally, this summer, Nurse Robinson is planning to implement a biggest loser type weight loss contest focusing on healthy eating, exercise and lifestyle choices with the women from the Wellness Center.
