NBC5 Chicago, Telemundo Chicago, and community partners–including everyone here at Facing Forward to End Homelessness–are urging our Chicago neighbors to act locally and make a difference this summer. Through Neighborhood Heroes, we are asking viewers to pledge to do small acts of kindness. From reading to kids at the library or supervising safe outdoor play, to picking up trash or starting a community garden, every action counts toward changing our neighborhoods for the better.
After taking the pledge, the information filters into a map that shows the hotspots of good deeds under way. It’s the opposite of a crime map: it’s a map of our neighborhood heroes.
Facing Forward is part of a group of organizations working to help spread good news about our communities in Chicago. The NBC5 Community Action Board gathers leaders in the Chicago area to share information and inspiration for making a difference in our communities.
