Adrienne, a single mother of three, had been homeless for nearly two years when she came to Facing Forward in 2013. Once stably housed and connected with resources to meet her family’s basic needs, Adrienne soon found employment, completed her bachelor’s degree and was accepted into a master’s program.
In 2018, after 5 years in the program, Adrienne moved on from Facing Forward, into an apartment in the South Loop near her children’s school. That same year, Facing Forward staff were thrilled to watch Adrienne cross the stage at Northeastern Illinois University, where she graduated with a master’s in elementary education! All things are possible when a person has the foundation of a stable home, partnership toward her goals, and the opportunity to tap into her strengths and abilities.
